Just a small update on this one:

One of the administrators suddenly remembered that the encryption was
changed from 168bit 3DES to 56bit DES because of "huge CPU load".
Starting vpnc with --enable-1des fixed the problem, and I can now
connect again. I assume this will work for Åsmund as well.
