Patches to port VPNC to Darwin were submitted to this list more than a
year ago. A Red Hat engineer has mentioned adding features to VPNC that
were actually necessary parts of the Darwin port. Lately, I've found
myself adding small features to VPNC to make it more useful on my Mac.
It seems that it would be nice to be able to consolidate these changes
into a Subversion repository to help prevent pointless duplication of
work. I was wondering if other people on this list would be interested
in such an effort as well?
I sent an email to <vpnc at unix-ag.uni-kl.de> a couple of weeks ago, but
received no answer. The obvious next step would be to contact the server
administrators and request that they make a Subversion dump available.
However, first I wanted to check whether other people were already aware
of such efforts, or interested in co-maintaining a new repository.
(Should anyone be interested, the features I have added are
setuid()/setgid() execution and secure storage of the password in the
Mac OS X key chain. IMHO simple changes, but useful results.)
