I'm not sure it will help with this particular problem, but I sent a
patch to this list back in January that does just this (i.e. supplies a
--nat-keepalive option to send NAT-Keepalive packets as specified in the
RFC).  This was required to get vpnc to work with my touchy NAT setup.
